The following guarantee applies if you are deemed a “consumer” under the Australian Consumer Law. If there is a defect in your Sofa Studio product that appears within the first 12 months, we will do the following:
(a) If our product has a minor defect ie fails to be of acceptable quality – but not a major failure, we will repair it or offer you a replacement (option at our discretion)
(b) If the product has a major failure, you are entitled to a replacement (if available) OR refund OR Keep the goods and receive compensation due to the inconvenience.
15 YEAR STRUCTURAL WARRANTY
The structural timber frame used in each piece of Sofa Studio Furniture is warranted
against failure due to a manufacturing fault for a period of up to 15 years
from the date of purchase.
3 YEAR SOFABED MECHANISM AND MATTRESS WARRANTY
We offer a 3 year warranty on all our bifold sofa bed mechanisms.
We offer a 1 year warranty on our standard 6” innerspring sofabed mattress.
We offer a 2 year warranty on our Latex innerspring sofabed mattress.
We offer a 3 year warranty on our Indulgence innerspring sofabed mattress.
The Sofa Studio Mattress warranty is against defects in materials (other than covering materials) and workmanship. This is provided that the defect is not a result of normal wear and tear, or a natural characteristic of the material used. The mattress must be cared for in accordance with the care instructions supplied by Sofa Studio or labelled on the product. After confirmation of the defect by Sofa Studio, the purchaser can return the mattress to our warehouse at the purchaser’s expense and Sofa Studio will repair or replace the mattress. This warranty is also subject to the terms and conditions set out below:
(Sofa bed mechanisms may rust if located in humid/coastal areas. This is not covered under warranty).
Other components including; foam, feather and fibre seat/back inserts, suspension, springs, sofa bed mechanisms, zippers, piping, joins and legs are warranted against failure due to a manufacturing defect for a period of up to ten years according to the depreciation table at the end of this document *.
Accessories (such as scatter cushions and arm caps) manufactured by Sofa Studio are warranted against failure due to a manufacturing fault for a period of two years.
We do not offer warranties on fabrics or leathers. However we are careful in only offering high quality fabrics and leathers from reputable Australian suppliers. Fabrics and leathers will fade and crease over time. This is not considered faulty. We recommend keeping all fabrics or leather out of direct sunshine and follow the relevant cleaning instructions. The leathers we use are 100% natural. As such, the following are to be considered as naturally inherent characteristics: variations in colour, grain and texture, natural markings. These are not considered defects. Leather requires periodical maintenance in order to stop it cracking over a period of time. We recommend cleaning and conditioning your leather with proprietry leather cleaning products. (Never use detergents, window cleaner or soaps).
Where defects occur in coverings, Sofa Studio will (where possible) arrange an inspection from a representative from the fabric/leather company. This does not imply a warranty from Sofa Studio.
FAIR WEAR AND TEAR
Fabric and leather coverings, suspension, cushioning and fillings will show signs of wear and tear with use. Normal wear and tear is not covered by our additional warranty. Foam and fillings will soften and form to the shape of the user over time. Depending on the covering and the amount of use, the covering materials, cushion fillings and suspension may need to be replaced periodically at the purchaser’s expense.
GENERAL WARRANTY TERMS
Any repair or replacement under this warranty is limited to the defective part only. Sofa Studio reserves the right to charge freight, house calls, labour and other items to the purchaser at standard rates. These are not included under the terms of this warranty. Sofa Studio reserves the right to decide whether a component should be repaired or replaced, and that is the limit of our liability under this warranty.
Where styles and colours have been discontinued over time. Sofa Studio reserves the right to substitute warrantied product with the nearest colour or style of equivalent value. Every effort will be made to match current style and colour.
Subject to the Australian Consumer Law, this Warranty does not apply to any products sold as seconds, floorstock, repaired products, or products that have a defect where this has been drawn to the customer’s attention before the purchase of the product or stated on the sale invoice.
This warranty will become void if the furniture becomes defective as a result of accident, alterations, misuse, abuse, unauthorised commercial use, misapplication, improper handling, improper removal, incorrect operation or cleaning/fabric protection, and normal wear and tear (examples: normal fabric fraying and loss of colour intensity from prolonged use, exposure to salt air, damage from insects or pets).
This warranty does not cover costs associated with warranty service which includes, but is not limited to, transportation costs to and from our store/factory, costs of removal, or reinstallation of product, or any incidental or consequential damages.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and limitations, and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state. No employee of Sofa Studio has the authority to increase or alter the obligation of this warranty.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM
To activate this warranty, the purchaser must contact Sofa Studio within 14 days of any defect occurring. Upon return of the damaged product, Sofa Studio will inspect and evaluate the warranty claim. If the product is deemed to be damaged by reasons not related to the warranty cover, the purchaser will be required to cover the full costs of the repair.
The purchaser has 30 days of receipt of new goods to report any marks, holes, scratches or defects on the cloth or product. This type of defect will be immediately evident and will not be a defect that evolves over time. Claims after 30 days will be considered misuse or general wear and tear.
The purchaser has 30 days from the date of delivery or pick up of the product to notify Sofa Studio if they are missing any aspect of their order. After this time frame, the order will be considered 100% delivered to the customer.
To benefit under this additional warranty, the purchaser must supply their original invoice as proof of purchase. They must also be the original purchaser at the original delivery address. This warranty is non-transferable.
